Overview:

Clover Nutrient Bank is a 102.61-acre nutrient credit project located in Pulaski County, Virginia, within the Upper New River Watershed. The bank is designed to generate verified nutrient and sediment reduction credits that support water quality improvement efforts across the New River Basin.

The project promotes sustainable silvicultural practices and permanent land conversion strategies that enhance on-site biodiversity while delivering measurable, on-the-ground nutrient and sediment reductions. By removing livestock access from deed-restricted areas, establishing and maintaining a minimum 35-foot riparian buffer along perennial and intermittent waters, and implementing long-term forest management practices, Clover Nutrient Bank ensures durable environmental benefits.

Tree planting has been completed across designated land conversion areas and will be maintained at a minimum density of 400 stems per acre, further strengthening nutrient uptake, stabilizing soils, and improving watershed health. These practices collectively generate nutrient and sediment reduction credits that can be used to meet federal, state, and locally mandated regulatory requirements.

Clover Nutrient Bank is approved to provide credits within the Upper New River (HUC 05050001) and Middle New River (HUC 05050002) watersheds, offering a reliable, regulator-approved solution for permittees seeking compliance within the New River Basin.
