Castor Falls Mitigation Bank is a 44.03 acre site located in Floyd County, Iowa within the Cedar Service Area. Castor Falls was approved by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Rock Island District in March 2026 for a potential of 66,382.36 stream credits.
With Beaver Creek flowing directly through it, Castor Falls Mitigation Bank is biologically, chemically, and physically connected to water quality, sediment and nutrient transport, and migration of aquatic species to the Cedar River. The bank will improve water quality and decrease erosion by stabilizing streambanks and creating a floodplain connection. Nutrient loads will also decrease through riparian buffers and vegetated streambanks.
Castor Falls Mitigation Bank is approved to offset stream impacts within the Cedar watershed (portions of 07080206 and a portion of 07080103) which impacts over 20 counties.
